Information about donations
We can only accept donations of munitions if they are accompanied by a deactivation certificate.
Please allow between two and six months for your offer of a donation to be processed.
When an offer of a donation is made, the Permanent Acquisition for Collections committee will meet to discuss it. Various different stakeholders sit on the committee, including Verdun Memorial – Battlefield’s directors and heads of collections.
How we use the objects donated to us
If you donate an object to Verdun Memorial – Battlefield, you give it to us irrevocably and free of charge. If your donation is accepted, the objects in question will enter the collections of Verdun Memorial – Battlefield, which will take ownership of them. Objects accepted will become part of the museum’s study and documentation collection. As such, they may be made available not only to researchers but also to museum staff, who may present them to the public as part of specialist and educational events. Occasionally, the objects accepted may, with prior permission from the donor, be used in displays. Objects accepted will not necessarily be displayed in the museum, on either a temporary or a permanent basis. Should the object be exhibited, you will be informed in advance by email or by post.
