Between 14 March and 21 May 2018, the Verdun Memorial is hosting the contemporary art installation White Sun (“Soleil blanc”), created by committed artist Pierre Jodlowski and visual artist David Coste.

Following a visit to the collections led by historian Nicolas Czubak, the Verdun Memorial presents a more contemporary, emotional and contemplative approach to the Great War and its memory through the interactive audio-visual installation White Sun, presented by one of its creators Pierre Jodlowski.

Composer, musician and multimedia artist, Pierre Jodlowski has forged his own path in the contemporary creative arts. Winner of several international competitions, his creative works are hosted in a wide variety of venues, both in France and abroad: Venice Biennale, IRCAM (Paris), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Opéra du Capitole (Toulouse), WRO Art Biennale (Wroclaw), Maison de la danse (Lyon), Musée du patrimoine (Geneva), Prague Spring Festival, City of Music festivals (Rome and Paris), Interart Centre (Malmö) and Luxembourg Philharmonia. His music, often marked by its density, lies at the crossroads of acoustic sound and electric sound and is firmly rooted in theatre and politics. His work spans a number of fields. At the fringes of his musical world, he experiments with images, interactive programming for installations and scenography. He is a proponent of the practice of “active” music in its physical and psychological dimensions. Alongside his composing work, he also performs, either alone or together with other artists.
